Review:
We've been very happy with ABB Grade 1. One of the features I appreciate most about ALL of ABB's curricula is that our learning day is completely spelled out. There is very little guesswork as to what to teach or when to teach it. It may seem a little cost prohibitive, however, a big part of the expense is the readers. These can be found second hand at every used book sale as well as online. You can even substitute your own readers. Also, if you have the materials for K-5, you will find that many of them are used again in Grade 1. Since A Beka is such a well-known publisher and has been around for such a long time, there is a plethora of used material out there. WWW.vegsource.com/homeschool is a great source for second hand materials. Watch the copyright dates though. Often people will try to sell their old, old editions which won't match up with the current curriculum guide. I would highly recommend having a current ABB user guide you through the motel meeting and/or catalog. These can be overwhelming for first timers. Current users can also give you a better idea of the materials that are essential and those that are not. I would recommend ABB Grade 1.
